From the 15 th to the 16 th century,Hormuz was not only the maritime gateway of the Persian Gulf,but also one of the important port cities of the "Maritime Silk Road".At that time,Hormuz played an essential role in the Eurasian trade and the Indian Ocean trade circle.There are the old Hormuz and the new Hormuz,which was collectively called as “Hormuz”.After the capital was moved to Jarun Island,the city's economy not only developed rapidly under the interaction of superior geographical location,stable domestic political environment and trade environment,and convenient land and sea transportation,but also formed a well-connected transship trade network centering on Hormuz,which connects China via India and the Spice Islands in the east,reaches the coast of the Mediterranean Sea via Persia towards the west,connects the east coast of Africa via Muscat and the west coast of India in the south,and extends trade to the countries and regions in the north of Persia towards the north.The booming trade has boosted the status of Hormuz,and it not only became an international port city in the Persian Gulf,but also played an important part in the emerging world trade system.In addition to the introduction and conclusion,the body part is divided into three parts.First,this thesis makes an analysis of the background of the rise of Hormuz trade.Tracing back to the source,this thesis introduces the historical background of the prosperity of Hormuz's foreign trade before the 15 th century,and lays emphasis on the analysis of the decisive factor Hormuz's prosperity from the 15 th to 16 th century--the superior geographical location.Secondly,it elaborates the main manifestations of the prosperity of Hormuz's trade form the 15 th to 16 th century mainly from the perspective of merchants,types of goods and trade routes,and discusses the trade network centered on the center,such as,the wide range,many trade routes,a variety of goods,large number of transactions.Thirdly,it discusses the impact of the prosperous trade on Hormuz's development and its status in the Persian Gulf and the world economy and trade.The urban population increased and merchants of different races from all over the world gathered here,forming a multicultural integration,and Islam,Judaism,Christianity and other world religions met here.At the same time,the economic status of Hormuz has risen to the level of Aden and Malacca which occupied a certain position both in Traditional Islam and the intra-Indian ocean trade and was an important part of the emerging world trade system.
