Since the 21 st century,the creation of "new mythology" in the world literary circle and fi lm and television swept the trend,and induced the 2005 global dozens of countries to particip ate in the "restatement of myth" movement.In 2016,kazuo ishiguro published his novel the b uried giant,which used the cloak of fantasy epic to discuss the topic of how to choose betwee n memory and forgiveness in the face of historical feud between nations and individuals.This thesis try to the perspective of new myth,by using the method of close reading from the text r ewriting myth story building,inheritance and rewrite of mythology theme,and affect the inter pretation of the buried giant more aspects to analyze,through myths and legends of ancient fo r inheritance and rewritten,in line with the modern humans of aims to create new myths.The introduction introduces the domestic and foreign academic research status of the aut hor kazuo ishiguro and the buried giant,as well as the research theory and method of this pap er.The first chapter discusses the myth prototype in the buried giant and the fusion and absorp tion of the myth elements,and reinterprets the construction of the story text.With the mythic al king Arthur period of British and Saxon war between the two ethnic groups as the backgrou nd,atmosphere in Celtic mythology and northern mythology,from the myth of the goddess of war rights,and heroism,rich in myth prototype analysis demonstrates the author to the myth o f traditional inheritance,.The second chapter is the inheritance and rewriting of the myth theme.This paper analyzes : one is the love and loyalty to the theme of rewriting,with "buried giant" in the hero and heroine marriage clues;the other is the rewriting of the theme of memory and redemptio n,that is,the relationship between collective memory and social memory,the past and the pre sent.It is impossible for modern people and society not to need memory.The history of the pa st is the basis for the development of the present.Chapter three is the significance of the buried giant from the perspective of new mythology.Kazuo ishiguro's writing of myth is quite different from other fantasy novels.Different fro m the ordinary daily perspective,kazuo ishiguro's way of looking at the mythological world is a restatement,combining the influence of his works on modern society,goddess spirit and lite rary creation,and providing more space for literary imagination for the comprehensive study of new mythological works.The characters and archetypal plots in the buried giant all pave the way for the theme of archetypal mythology.Starting from the analysis of rich mythological archetypes and mytholo gical themes,this paper analyzes and demonstrates the author's inheritance of mythological tr aditions and the interaction and evolution of the influence of mythological themes and literary creation,so as to deeply understand the root cause of the survival crisis of modern society des cribed by kazuo ishiguro.
