A Report On The English-Chinese Translation Of The Attributive Clauses In The Expository Text Feminism(Excerpts)

The content of translation practical report is based on Feminism(excerpts)written by June Hannam.Under the guidance of Peter Newmark's communicative translation theory,this paper uses different methods to translate attributive clauses,which is of practical guiding significance to improving the quality and efficiency of expository text translation.Expository texts translation mainly aims to convey the information of the original text and reproduce the content of the original text.In the process of translation,it strives to achieve the equivalence between the original text and the translation in meaning.There are great differences between English writing and Chinese writing,especially in the structure of sentences.So we should translate attributive clauses in texts with different methods,and select Chinese expressions that are most suitable for the meaning of the original text according to the context.The methods that studied in this translation report of Attributive clauses are often used in English-Chinese translation,which can effectively avoid the translation cavity and be truly faithful to the original text.Analyze the difficult cases carefully and use the correct methods to deal with the attributive clause in order to help translator express the meaning of the original text more smoothly and completely.This report is divided into six parts: the first part introduces the meaning and purpose of translation;the second part describes the content of the translated text and makes an introduction to the author and writing style,and;the third part briefly introduces the preparation before translation,the problems in translation,the proofreading after translation;the fourth part introduces the main theories of information text and communicative translation methods,the application of this theory in the practice of expository texts translation;the fifth part is the case analysis,under the guidance of communicative translation methods to analysis the attributive clauses,the specific analysis of three aspects:Translated into prepositive attributives,Translated into parallel clauses,Translated into adverbial clauses;The sixth part is asummary of this practical report,and finds out the problems and shortcomings in this translation practice,and provides translation experience and guidance for the future translation work.It is hoped that this practical report will be helpful to the translation of explanatory texts into English and Chinese and attributive clauses.
