The Early Roman Empire was an important period of political stability,economic development and commercial prosperity.With the discovery of the Indian Ocean monsoon,the improvement of navigation technology in the Mediterranean and the protection of trade by the rulers,trade between Rome and the Indian subcontinent was carried out under peaceful conditions.In the early days of the Empire,Rome and India’s trade reached the highest point in history,whether from the scale of the trade or trade items.With the increasing demand of the Romans for oriental goods,the trade between Rome and India played an increasingly prominent role in the Roman economy,and had different degrees of influence on the economy and society of the Roman Empire.This article takes Rome as the starting point,and uses trade as a research perspective.Through the study of the trade background,trade routes and trade commodities of the Early Roman Empire and the Indian subcontinent,to analyze the important role of India trade in the economic and social life of the Early Roman Empire.The thesis is divided into three parts: introduction,body and conclusion.In the citation,the background and significance of the topic selection,the research trends at home and abroad,the content and innovation points of the article are mainly introduced.The main body is divided into four parts.The first part focuses on the investigation of the social and economic background of the Early Roman Empire and the conditions of trade with India.The second part is a comprehensive discussion of the trade routes between Rome and India.The third part starts with the trade goods of Rome and the Indian subcontinent,taking the Roman Empire as the core and on the basis of a detailed investigation and study of the import and export goods of the empire,explains the scale of trade between the Early Roman Empire and the Indian subcontinent.The fourth part is a tentative analysis and discussion on the economic and social impact of trade in the Roman Empire.
