A Research On The Image Building Of Hui-neng In Drama

Hui-neng is the sixth generation of Zen master in China.His life story and Zen thought have always been valued by the academic circle.The academic research on Hui-neng began at the beginning of the twentieth century.The researches on Hui-neng as a historical figure at home and abroad gradually achieve fruitful results.However,since the 21^stcentury,the domestic researches on Hui-neng's artistic image has yielded few results and lacked of systematic combing.In this study,the author reviews the researches of Hui-neng's historical image at home and abroad,as well as its artistic image creation and researches.This paper studies Hui-neng's historical image and artistic image by using the methods of documentation,comparative analysis and interpretation of his works.By comparing the characteristics of Hui-neng's image and the shaping techniques in the author's original drama Six Ancestors Hui-neng and other works,this paper highlights the uniqueness of Hui-neng's drama image and shaping techniques,and discusses the significance of Hui-neng's Zen thought on promoting Chinese traditional culture and constructing a community of human destiny.In the first chapter,the introduction clarifies the value of studying Hui-neng and Zen thought,and the importance of studying Hui-neng's historical image and artistic image.Chapter two mainly combs out Hui-neng's life stories and theory of mind and nature from Tan Jing and other documents and classics to restore Hui-neng's historical image.Then it summarizes the characteristics of Hui-neng's image in representative works to highlight the uniqueness of Hui-neng's drama image,namely,unity of literature and authenticity,combination of divinity and humanity.Chapter three summarizes Hui-neng's image-building techniques from four aspects:plot structure arrangement,situation creation,conflict setting,lines and action design.By comparing Hui-neng's image-building techniques in other works of art,it illustrates the author's thoughts and techniques of creating Hui-neng's image.Chapter Four theoretically discusses the value and significance of Hui-neng's drama image,as well as the practical function and value of Hui-neng's Zen thought.The conclusion part summarizes the whole paper.Through shaping Hui-neng's drama image,this paper aims to excavate Hui-neng's Zen thought and spirit,carry forward Chinese traditional culture,present Hui-neng's pursuit of eternal truth,concern and affirmation for himself,and the spirit of doing good to the society,which is of great significance to a construct a community of shared future for mankind.
