Camus(1913.11.7-1960.1.4)was a French philosopher and writer making great achievements in the field of literature.Camus classified his thoughts as absurdity and resistance, which led researchers to adopt these two methods when studying his thoughts.Camus’ absurd thoughts are to explain the absurd nature of the world.Absurdity tells us what the world is.Resistance tells the world what to do.But the question is,why the world is so absurd, and why do people need to adopt the form of resistance instead of other ways around? Camus’ thoughts are about this question as a whole. In his opinion, this is because of the unfree situation,so people have a sense of absurdity, and they want to get freedom again, thus they have to fight against absurdity. It is this logic that makes us realize the thing that freedom lies behind Camus’ absurdity and resistance, and freedom is the leading factor in his ideological construction.Camus’ thoughts about absurdity and resistance were established under the guidance of his libertinism. Therefore, from the perspective of freedom,we find that the absurd theme describes the experience of freedom, and the resistance theme describes the boundary of freedom, which owns both continuity and disagreement. This kind of continuity and filth is shown in art,and also the tendency of harmony is shown in art.Camus’ own understanding of freedom is further highlighted in art, that is,balanced freedom has become the key points of his artistic pursuit. In addition to the introduction, the text is discussed from three parts:The first part mainly introduces the context, reasons of Camus’ view of freedom and its stipulation. The liberal thoughts have influenced the later thinkers since the Renaissance and the enlightenment. In addition, the economic and the war crisis have prompted many philosophers in the first half of the 20 th century, including Camus,to think more about freedom. The free thoughts of the pioneers of existentialism, such as Kierkegaard,Nietzsche and Jasbels, directly influenced the formation of Camus’ views of freedom.Camus was deeply influenced by the ancient Greek culture, especially the moderation thoughts of ancient Greece, which constituted the feature of his views of freedom, that is,equilibrium. The second part mainly discusses the continuity and opposition between the two main parts of Camus’ views of freedom. The theme of absurdity and resistance is actually Camus’ discussion on experiencing freedom and boundary freedom under the control of his free thoughts.Just as there is a causal connection between absurdity and resistance, there is a continuity between the freedom of experience and the freedom of boundaries. However, there are opposites between them, which are manifested in the conflict between the insignificance of experiencing freedom and the value of boundary freedom, the absoluteness of experiencing freedom and the relativity of boundary freedom, and the individuality of experiencing freedom and the collectivity of boundary freedom. The third part mainly discusses the presentation of Camus’ equilibrium thoughts of freedom in art.Among artists, there is still continuity between experiencing freedom and boundary freedom, but the opposition between experiencing freedom and boundary freedom tends to be coordinated in art.Art is produced under the running-in of reality and non-reality,with the connotation of freedom and the essence of balanced freedom.Camus is both an artist and a philosopher. In his works of art,he advocates the free verification of the novel and philosophy as well as the content of different works. The search for freedom and its stipulations run through the whole thoughts of Camus, both in the theme of absurdity and resistance and in the theory of art,and there is a factor of equilibrium freedom as well. |
