Namvar Singh is widely accepted as the most prominent progressive critic after Ram Vilas Sharma,as well as the most professional and insightful critic after Ramchandra Shukla.Namvar Singh's criticism on Premchand answered many long-standing questions about Premchand.His criticism adopted a novel form,expressed thoughtful views,and developed powerful arguments.It provides many new viewpoints,perspectives and methods for the further study of Plemchangde's literature.This thesis introduces the Hindi literary criticism before Namvar Singh and also presented the background of his literary criticism and himself.Based on the book "Premchand and Indian Society" by Namvar,the main contents of Namvar Singh's Criticism on Premchand is divided into three aspects — Premchand and Indian literature,Premchand and Indian national independence,Premchand's creative ideology and art.Then,the main characteristics of Namvar Singh's Criticism on Premchand are analyzed from the form,content and method.
