| Violence is an important factor which has vastly influenced economy,politics,society and culture of Colombia?s history and reality.In history,this country has been through the periods of conquest and colonizations,and then it has emerged from the collapse of Gran Colombia and the separation of Panama.The violence has cast its shadow upon the long Colombian history.Since the 1940 s,the conflict between Colombia?s two leading political parties,along with drug traffic and civil war,has led to a sweeping violence across the country.During this period,the works of Colombian writers have involved violence as a subject matter in varying degrees.This paper takes three novels as example,which are Estaba la pájara pinta sentada en el verde limón of the Colombian female writer Albalucía ángel,La virgen de los sicarios of Fernando Vallejo and Angosta of Hector Abad Faciolince,in a bid to study the narrative forms of violence amid three different periods after 1948-La Violencia,Narcotrafico and contemporary society undergoing a process of peace deal,using the methods of socio-historical analysis and text reading.Through the analysis of the relationship among violence,history and urban space embedded in the works of different types,which are violence novel that narrates the memory of Colombian history,the sicaresque novels that portray the young assassins working for narcos and the urban violence novel that explores the social stratification and the division of urban space,we can reach a better and overall comprehension towards Colombian contemporary literature even Latin American literature. |
