The reform of English education in primary schools has put forward new requirements and standards for English teachers.Although the traditional teacher-controlled classroom model has gradually evolved into student-centered,the role of teachers in classroom teaching can not be ignored.Teachers play a key role in imparting new knowledge, providing help in learning and cultivating students' autonomous learning ability. At the same time, the role of teachers in the teaching process is constantly changing, and teachers' own views and role consciousness are often easily ignored. This kind of neglect can hardly encourage teachers to reflect on their own role concepts, and also can hardly stimulate teachers to consciously adjust and improve their role consciousness.Combining with the research content, this paper determines the combination of literature research and empirical research.Firstly, literature analysis and theoretical interpretation are carried out,and books, journals and papers related to teachers' role consciousness in recent years are searched comprehensively. On this basis, empirical research is carried out.Based on the analysis of these documents, this paper proposed to study teachers' role consciousness from the perspective of constructivism.Through questionnaires to understand the real ideas of front-line English teachers about role consciousness, and through classroom observation to record teachers' real classroom performance in detail,in addition, questionnaires were also issued to students in the observed teachers' classes. The purpose is to study whether there is a gap between students' expectations of teachers' roles and teachers' own role consciousness,.Whether there is a gap between teachers' own role consciousness and their actual classroom teaching and whether their actual classroom teaching behaviors meet the expectations of students on the role of teachers. The personal reasons are that teachers' own concepts are not up to date, their role behavior is out of touch with their role consciousness, their knowledge and ability are insufficient, and their psychological adaptability is insufficient. The influencing factors are the educational environment, the lack of teachers' education and training resources, and the evaluation and incentive methods of teachers by schools and educational departments.Based on the above theories and findings, this paper put forward some suggestions on how to improve the role consciousness of Englishteachers in rural primary schools, and put forward some suggestions on how to improve teachers role consciousness at the individual, school and national levels.
