In the Questions for Heaven,Qu Yuan raised the question,"The Xia Dynasty worshipped the Emperor of Heaven and got the blessing of heaven. Why did this blessing disappear in the rule of Monarch Xiajie?" Starting from this, this paper gives analysis on the one hundred and seventy-two questions in Questions for Heaven based on studying the creation origin of this long poem. With "Yi Yin’s question" as the clue,it explores the activities of Yi Yin in the dynasties of Xia and Shang. As a model virtuous official that assisted the wise monarch in Chinese history, the record of Yi Yin and Shang Tang can be found in many historical literatures. On the basis of extensive reading of these literatures, this paper sorts out the literature related to Yi Yin that was unearthed in recent years in the introduction part.Focusing on the Questions for Heaven and the handed down literature,Chapter One makes a detailed analysis of the origin, name, identity and ending of Yi Yin mentioned in Questions for Heaven.Based on preamble,Chapter Two combines the handed down texts with the unearthed literature to answer the "question of Yi Yin" proposed by Qu Yuan in Questions for Heaven, and studies the issues related to Yi Yin’s spy identity, name and ending.Chapter Three discusses the reasons why Yi Yin became a "problem figure" and the related issues of Yi Yin not covered in Questions for Heaven, such as Yi Yin’s political thoughts, and presents the analysis and study according to the relevant unearthed literature.
