Vocabulary is the basic unit of language.Without it,language communication can't be achieved.English vocabulary is the key to English learning.Only with a certain vocabulary basis,can we successfully perform listening,speaking,reading,writing and translating activities in English.Therefore,vocabulary is crucial to English teaching.The purpose of vocabulary teaching is not only the teaching of knowledge,but also the ability of strategies,techniques,methods and so on,which are conducive to the sustainable development of students.However,in most junior high schools,especially in villages and towns school,English vocabulary teaching still stays in the teaching of sound,form and meaning,lacking the guidance of strategies and methods.The unilateral input of teachers and the passive acceptance of students lead to the unsatisfactory effect of vocabulary teaching and learning.Therefore,how to effectively improve the influence of vocabulary teaching and learning and provide guidance for students' sustainable learning has become an important topic in vocabulary teaching research.The thesis tries to integrate the association strategy into the teaching of junior high school English vocabulary.On the basis of reading a large number of related literature,and combining the learning characteristics and learning conditions of junior high school students.The author takes 81 students from two classes in an ordinary junior high school of villages and towns school in Rizhao as the research objects.Experimental research,test method,interview method,questionnaire survey are used to conduct the research to solve the following problems:(1)Can the use of association strategies improve students' English vocabulary learning scores ?(2)Can association strategies enhance students' interest in learning English vocabulary?(3)Can association strategies help students develop a sense of using vocabulary learning strategies?The experiment lasted one semester,at the end of the experiment,the author collected the data of questionnaire and interview through Excel,and uses SPSS 23.0 to analyze the dataof pretest and post-test of vocabulary test.Through the combination of quantitative and qualitative analysis,the author finds that the vocabulary association strategy has a positive influence on English vocabulary learning in junior high school students.The association strategy promotes the improvement of students' vocabulary and English scores,as well as their interests in vocabulary learning and the use of vocabulary strategies.Finally,according to this study,the author puts forward some suggestions for junior high school English vocabulary teaching for reference only.
