The Effects Of Problem Difficulty And Belief-Logic Conflict On Belief And Logic Judgment | | Posted on:2020-01-11 | Degree:Master | Type:Thesis | | Country:China | Candidate:W X Zhang | Full Text:PDF | | GTID:2415330599457901 | Subject:Development and educational psychology | | Abstract/Summary: | PDF Full Text Request | | Dual processes theory has attracted more and more attention in the research of reasoning psychology.Researchers have similar views on the essential difference between Type 1 processes and Type 2 processes.However,there are many disputes about the starting sequence of the two processes and how the two processes interact with each other.Parallel-competitive model and default-interventionist model are representative viewpoints on the interaction between the two processes.This study used Trippas’ s behavioral research paradigm and the novel ERP methodology introduced by Banks.College students in Liaocheng City were selected as participates.Three series of transitive reasoning were used to examine the effects of problem difficulty,belief-logic conflict on belief judgment and logical judgment.The activation sequence of the two processes was detected by combining behavioral and EEG experiments.And this study tested the separability of the experimental hypothesis based on default-interventionist model and parallel-competitive model.The main conclusions of this study are as follows.The results of behavioral experiments showed that when solving simple problems,the conflict between belief and logic had a greater impact on belief judgment than logical judgment;but when solving complex problems,the belief-logic conflict had a more significant impact on logical judgment than belief judgment.According to EEG data,conflict problem elicited a more positive P3 than non-conflict problem.That was,conflict resolution consumed more attention resources and energy than non-conflict resolution.According to the results of behavioral experiments and EEG experiments,Type 1processes and Type 2 processes occur simultaneously and process in parallel in the transitive reasoning.The results support the parallel-competitive model. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | Parallel-competitive model, Default-interventionist model, Problem difficulty, Belief-logic conflict, Belief judgment, Logic judgment | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
