Research On The Novels Of People's Literature In "Baihua Age"

In 1956,with "Double Hundred” policy,---“ letting the arts have free expression and the schools of thoughts contend without restrictions ” proposed,the “Baihua Age” ofPeople's Literature also came.During the year of 1956 and 1957,there were great changes in the magazine People's Literature.There are three main aspects which reflected the transformation,and they are the expansion of creative content,the transformation of narrative positions as well as the richness of narrative methods.During the “Baihua Age”,types and materials of the novel creation in People's Literature are expended,meanwhile the characters in the works and novels are much more diverse than before.The characters in the works are no longer restricted in the groups of workers,peasants and soldiers,while the intellectuals,backward peasants and landlords become the main characters in their works.The content of the works is also more diverse,for example,the narration of love stories and marriages is increased,and the detailed descriptions of human body,body gesture as well as sexual desire are appeared in the writing.The writers' narrative position has also changed from celebration to criticism,from criticism to understanding and care.And the writers' attitude towards the same character in the " Baihua Age " is different from the past.In addition,from the view of narrative method,the narrative methods are varied in the novels of People's Literatureduring the “BaihuaAge”.In the works about the workers,peasants and soldiers,the authors generally describe the characters in the third person as they did in the past.While in the works about intellectuals,the authors choose various methods to describe the characters.In the novels about the private life of the intellectuals and the personal thoughts on ethics and moral principles,the authors use the first person to narrate;while in the novels about the problems of society,the authors use the third person.In the works of “Intervene Life”,the writers show the meaning of the novel to express criticism and their position through comparison.All in all,the novels in People's Literatureduring the “Baihua Age” are great breakthroughs compared with the past,while the works during this period are still restricted to some extent.Even so,People's Literature during the “Baihua Age” still has its own unique charm in the "17-year" literature.
