Study On The Film Supplement Of The Xinshu Newspaper(1937-1945)

By commemorating the 100 th anniversary of the birth of Chinese film,the study of Chinese film history has set off a climax of "rewriting the history of Chinese film".Many early Chinese films have been lost due to poor preservation.Under such circumstances,film advertisements in newspapers and magazines and some articles in film and drama supplements have become valuable materials for us to restore the history of early Chinese films.Therefore,it has become a new method to study the development of early Chinese films from a new perspective by looking for first-hand historical data from newspapers and magazines.Observation Chongqing’s film development from the period of the republic of China newspaper during the Anti-Japanese War,let the dusty paper takes us back to the wars of the years,this is not only a response to " rewriting the history of Chinese film " project,render contribution to the research of Chinese movie history,but also to remind us: don’t forget the spirit of resistance,to remember the history of China.This paper selects Xinshu Newspaper(1937-1945),a private newspaper published in Chongqing as the research text.Chapter one sorted out the film supplement of Xinshu Newspaper in the past eight years,divided the development of the film supplement of Xinshu Newspaper into three stages,sorted out the main sections and content distribution in the supplement,and analyzed the cultural trend of the film review in the supplement.The development of film review in the supplement from the awareness of the war of resistance to personal awareness,and finally became more entertaining with the victory of the war of resistance against Japan.Chapter two is a close reading of the film review text in the film supplement of Xinshu Newspaper,analyzing the content construction,text characteristics and writing mode of film review,and discussing the educational,propaganda,entertainment and aesthetic functions of film review.The third chapter discusses the value of the film supplement of Xinshu Newspaper.The film supplement of Xinshu Newspaper not only contributes to the development of local theory and the construction of critical discourse,but also records some missing films of The China Film Studio and The Central Film Studio,which is of great significance to the study of Chinese film history.This paper hopes to make some contributions to the development of film history in the Great Rear Area.
