Vcham,as a universal sacrificial ceremony of Tibetan Buddhism, expresses the essence of Buddhism through symbolic performance of Vcham dance.Vcham dance is in combination with the vajra-dance of the Esoteric Buddhism, the drum dance and the animal-imitating dance of Bonism. It gradually developed into various performance styles as the Tibetan Buddhism developed into various sects.Vcham features religious, artistic and national characteristics, meanwhile including abundant philosophies, complex religion essence and colorful aesthetic content. It enlightens both the audience and the performer Buddhists by the profound views it contains: the cosmology of the Buddhism origin, the noumenon of the Six Elements, the life and death view from “bar do thos grol” and the values of Buddhahood Achievement Theory. And the “ugliness” of the mask, the “roundness” of the movement and the “pureness” of the music present the unique aesthetic feature to the public.Different from the literature research before, this paper attempts to excavate the Buddhism concept and aesthetic feature of Vcham, from which the status of the sense of Buddhism in national areas can be reflected,so that the unique and crucial research value on Vcham can be highlighted.
