Research On The Versions Of Pearl S.Buck’s Works In China

Pearl S.Buck,as the first American woman writer to win the Nobel Prize for Literature for describing Chinese stories,has gained a reputation as early as the 1920 s and 1930 s,and is well-known in the literary world for her Chinese-themed novels.She is a prolific writer.She has written more than a hundred novels,short stories,biographies,plays,political theories,speeches and translations in her lifetime,which has played an important role in promoting cultural exchanges between China and the West.However,it is not difficult to find many translations of Pearl S.Buck’s works in our country at present.There are many translations of Pearl S.Buck’s works published in our country.Printing and binding are also uneven.It is easy to bring confusion to readers,which increases the difficulty of readers’ choices and causes the waste of publishing resources invisibly.Pearl Buck’s works,as the medium and carrier of her thoughts,play an important role in understanding Pearl Buck’s cultural thoughts and academic values.This study focuses on the publication situation of Pearl Buck’s works in China,and makes a quantitative analysis of the translated versions of Pearl Buck’s works in China by using the methods of bibliometrics and social network analysis to analyze and sort out effectively the publication situation of Pearl Buck’s works in China,so as to clarify the development context of Pearl Buck’s works in China.This study has comprehensively and meticulously organized and presented the version of Pearl S.Buck in China in the form of an appendix by defining the scope of the study,combining data collection and investigation with the online and offline.Based on the historical time and the content form,the author makes an overall elaboration and summary of the version of Pearl S.Buck in China,and summarizes the characteristics and laws of different periods.Through the network research and telephone surveys,we will sort out the copyright status of Pearl S.Buck’s works,and provide reference for the copyright data and analysis of the publishing situation for the domestic publishing industry.In addition to the overall appearance of the combing,this study analyzed and compared the various versions of the popular works "The Good Earth","The Patriot","Dragon Seed".Several major translations of "The Earth" summarize the features of the version by comparing the similarities and differences of the details,and evaluate the pros and cons of the version.The cover of the version of Pearl S.Buck’s work was collected and summarized.This study outlines the version of Pearl S.Buck in China from the perspective of version research.As a new entry point for Pearl S.Buck research,based on solid version information,it provides a reference for Pearl S.And new possibilities.
