Research On Guo Xiang's Theoretical System Of "Du Hua"

Ghuang-tzu'annotation by Guo Xiang is a great work which refers to various aspects of thoughts and theories of metaphysics in Weijin Dynasty.Guo Xiang put forward the theoretical system of “Du Hua” in Ghuang-tzu'annotation.The theory of“Du Hua”means that there is no creator,and the formation and change of all living creatures are determined by creatures' intrinsic nature,not by external causes.Based on the theory of “Du Hua”,Guo Xiang put forward the political theory about the connection between “yu-wei” and “letting things take their own course” to solve the metaphysical problems in Weijin Dynasty.This thesis consists of three chapters to study the theoretical system of “Du Hua”.The first chapter mainly analyzes the changes of metaphysical thoughts in Weijin Dynasty,and these changes help and influence Guo Xiang to construct the theoretical system.Ghuang-tzu'annotation were written by Guo Xiang in the western jin,Yuankang dynasty.His philosophical system conforms to the ideological trend of the fusion of Confucianism and Taoism from the Han Dynasty to the Jin Dynasty,and it deepens the combination of the thought of the school of the Emperor Huang and Lao Tzu and Taoists' theory of human nature.The theoretical system of “Du Hua” is the development of “Zhengshi metaphysics” and “Bamboo forest metaphysics”.The theory of “Du Hua”was formed in the Weijin Dynasty,it means that there is no creator,and the formation and change of all living creatures are determined by creatures' intrinsic nature.The second chapter studies the theoretical connotation of the theoretical system of “Du Hua” through the analysis of the important philosophical concepts of “self-creation”,“mystery”,“nature”and so on.And the chapter will discuss how Guo Xiang negates the existence of the creator and puts forward his theory of “Zi Sheng”.The core of Guo Xiang's philosophy is that “intrinsic nature” is the decisive factor for the change of all living creatures and all things.The third chapter is on the basis of the above research,further explore the purport of the theoretical system of“Du Hua”,that is the philosophy of life and the political theory of nature.Guo Xiang ensured the complete realization of the value of individual life by his thought of “Jing xing yi an ming” and constructed an ideal political theory of connecting “yu-wei”with “letting things take their own course”.
