| The concept of "happiness" is not only the treasure of Chinese excellent traditional culture, but also the base of world civilization.Nowadays, the concept of "happiness" has a profound impact on both Chinese social development and the entire human progress.Through the in-depth study of the Confucian concept of "happiness" in the pre-Qin Dynasty, the paper tries to clarify the development and its theoretical gains and losses of the concept of "happiness",which will make some contributions to the current ethical research and moral construction in China.Based on historical records, the paper systematically investigates the Confucian concept of "happiness" in the pre-Qin Dynasty by using the methods of logical and historical unity and comparative study.Firstly, the Confucian concept of "happiness" in the pre-Qin Dynasty began from Yao and Shun ancient times, which was revised by Confucius to be formed, and finally developed and perfected by Mencius and Hsun Tzu.The concept of "happiness" contains three connotations of happiness, pleasure and music.First,in the whole Chinese traditional ethical culture,it is not only the essence of the traditional music ethics, but also the representative of the value orientation to make the Chinese nation happy.Next,by sorting out the origin, formation and development of the Confucian concept of "happiness" in the pre-Qin Dynasty, three characteristics of the concept of "happiness" are summarized, namely, moral emotion, moral experience and moral realm. Then, the paper compares the concept of "happiness" from the Confucianism with Taoism and Buddhism respectively,on which it analyses the significance of the comparison to draw the advantages and disadvantages of Confucian concept of "happiness" and its historical influence. Finally, the paper sublates the Confucian concept of "happiness",and states the construction of Confucian concept of "happiness" with contemporary personality, political and moral ideals according to the social reality of contemporary China. Moreover,it discusses the establishment of the Confucian concept of "happiness" with the current bioethics, political ethics and happiness ethics. In addition,on the basis of the socialist core values, the paper clarifies the contemporary significance of the Confucian concept of “happiness" in the pre-Qin Dynasty from several aspects of the value objectives at the national level, the value orientation at the social level and the value criteria at the individual level.Compared with current similar research, there are two innovations and characteristics in the paper.Firstly, the connotation and value of the Confucian concept of "happiness" in the pre-Qin period have been deeply analyzed to show its achievements and shortcomings, and to reveal its rationality and limitations,on which sublates the Confucian concept of "happiness" to lay the foundation for the reconstruction of contemporary Chinese happiness ethics.Secondly, the longitudinal and latitudinal studies of any ethical category are also the arrangement and investigation of the corresponding ethical history from the perspective of the category. However, the previous studies for the traditional category of “happiness” are scarce and scattered;the paper has the function and significance of sorting out the pre-Qin music ethical intellectual history. In addition, the position and role of the Confucian concept of “happiness” during the pre-Qin Dynasty in Chinese traditional ethical thought are also described in the paper. |
