Since the beginning of the 21 st century, the socialist market economy has developed rapidly. As a result, the proportion of skilled talents in social demand is increasingly higher. Therefore, vocational education has become an effective way for national economic development and personal development. As the measure of vocational education, career maturity is an important factor which scholars focus on.However, the researches in China show that the career maturity of students receiving vocational education is not good, especially for the first batch of secondary vocational students. At the same time, there are few studies and theories on their career maturity in China.Previous researches have shown that social support can affect students’ career maturity, but its mechanism of action is still not clear.Based on the theory of Ecosystem, the theory of Self-Identity and previous researches,self-worth can be considered as a mediator between social support and career maturity. Therefore, this study takes the secondary vocational students as the research object and examines the relationship among social support,self-worth and professional maturity.500 students in a secondary vocational school of Changsha had been investigated by stratified sampling. The research tools include the Perceived Social Support Scale compiled by Jiang Ganjin, the Self-worth Scale for Adolescents compiled by Huang Xiting and Yang Xiong, and the College Student Career Maturity Scale revised by Zhang Zhiyong et al.The date had been analyzed by the SPSS 19.0 and PROCESS,it found that :(1)There is no difference in gender and students’ origin among occupational maturity, social support, and self-worth.While in grades and working experience, the difference is significant.(2)There is a significant positive correlation among social support,self-worth and professional maturity.(3)Self-worth is a mediating role in the relationship between social support and career maturity. Finally, this study has the following conclusions:(1)the career maturity of secondary vocational students belongs to medium level;(2)social support can directly affects career maturity,it can also indirectly affects career by self-worth.Based on the research results of this paper, the suggestions for improving the professional maturity of secondary vocational students are put forward,it will helps to enrich the domestic empirical research and system theory oncareer maturity.
