The Research On The Formation And Evolution Of The Legend Of Ma Gu Xian Shou

Ma Gu is a famous female fairy of Taoism.Her story has been widely circulated since the Wei and Jin Dynasties.The story of Ma Gu has evolved through the times,leaving beautiful legends such as “Shuhai Sangtian” and “Mu Gu throwing rice” for later generations."Ma Gu Xian Shou" is the most representative legend of Ma Gu.The Ma Gu female fairy first appeared in Lie Yi Zhuan in the Wei and Jin Dynasties,but the formation of the legend of "Ma Gu Xian Shou" was relatively late.In the process of spreading the stories related to Ma Gu,the most beautiful of them is the formation and spread of the legend of "Ma Gu Xian Shou".This essay consists of three parts as the follows: introduction,body and conclusion.The introduction first discusses the value of the study of the formation and dissemination of the legend of "Ma Gu Xian Shou".Secondly,it summarizes the research results of the "Ma Gu" story,and introduces the research significance and innovations of this paper.The first chapter of the main body mainly discusses the establishment of the image of Ma Gu in the Wei and Jin Dynasties.The article first discusses the origin and evolution of Ma Gu's prototype,and then explores the original birthplace of Ma Gu by analyzing the status of Lie Yi Zhuan.Then,the comparison between the Lie Yi Zhuan and the story of the Ma Gu in the "Shen Xian Zhuan" is carried out to discuss the change of the image of Ma Gu in the Wei and Jin Dynasties.The second chapter discusses the connection between Ma Gu and the longevity view of the Tang Dynasty.The Ma Gu belief rises in the Tang Dynasty.The frequent use of the “Sanghai Sangtian” allusions in Quan Tang Shi reflects the short-lived worries of the Tang literati.Under the concept of time,the literati in the Tang Dynasty expressed their long-term appeals with the image of Ma Gu or the story of Ma Gu.In this chapter,through the compilation of the records of Ma Gu in Quan Tang Shi,this paper explores the theme of the longevity given to the image of Ma Gu in Tang poetry,and then determines the formation of “Ma Gu Xian Shou” in Tang Dynasty.The third chapter discusses the formation of the legend of "Ma Gu Xian Shou”.The orthodoxy of the Ma Gu faith in the Song and Yuan Dynasties had been perfected.The identity of Ma Gu had improved with the development of the Ma Gu belief.The legend of "Ma Gu Xian Shou" had basically taken shape.By sorting out the records of Ma Gu in Quan Song Ci and Quan Song Shi,it is found that the three elements of "Ma Gu","Wang Mu" and "Xian Shou" have been seen in the Song and Yuan Dynasties literature.The relationship between the image of "Ma Gu" and the feast of prayers was basically established,and the prototype of the legend of "Ma Gu Xian Shou" was formed.At the same time,on the basis of the formation of the legend,the image of Ma Gu also undergoes subtle changing.The allusions of "Ma Gu throwing rice" and "Ma Gu claws" have also developed in the Song and Yuan Dynasties.These are the records of the Ma Gu story in the literary text.The recording and dissemination of the story of Ma Gu in the literary text laid the foundation for the development and maturity of the legend of the "Ma Gu Xian Shou" in the popular literary texts lately.The fourth chapter mainly discusses the standardization and widespread dissemination of the legendary "Ma Gu Xian Shou" in the Ming and Qing Dynasties.The spread of "Ma Gu Xian Shou" was manifested in various fields of literature in the Ming and Qing Dynasties.Xu Shangchang's drama,Fu Ling Xian,had shaped the legend of “Ma Gu Xian Shou”.Finally,the essay has concluded that there are four main reasons why the legend of "Ma Gu Xian Shou" has been widely spread in the Ming and Qing Dynasties.First of all,the prosperity of the Ma Gu faith makes the legend of "Ma Gu Xian Shou" widely circulated.Secondly,the unique characteristics of the beauty of Ma Gu and the coexistence of longevity stimulate the creation of literati.Once again,the emergence of Ma Gu Ji greatly prospered the Ma Gu literature.In the end,the Ming and Qing Dynasties provided a rich form of expression in the legend of the "Ma Gu Xian Shou",which was popularized in the development of popular literature.
