The May 30 th Massacre shocked the whole country.In June 1925,Hong Kong held a general strike in support of the May 30 th Movement.In order to guide the Canton-Hong Kong strike correctly,Deng Zhongxia served as the editor of the newspaper "The Road for Workers",which was designated as the official publication of the Canton-Hong Kong Strike Committee.It was the longest-running workers' newspaper in the Great Revolution period.It was published for a year,from its inception until the January 1 in 1927,when it was forced to close.Deng Zhongxia,Su Zhaozheng,Lan Yuye,etc.were leading authors.They published news for strike workers about news about Canton-Hong Kong strike and the movement of workers at home and abroad,and opened major columns such as short reviews,special articles,strike news,domestic news,foreign news,and workers' clubs.These columns dealt mainly with external strategies and related comments during the strike period and exposed the true faces of imperialist hypocrisy by reporting on the facts of imperialist crimes in China.They propagandized the great unity of workers,peasants,soldiers,students and businessmen,called for unifying all the forces that can be united,and consolidated and strengthened the ranks of the working class.They reported the losses of imperialism,disseminated the news of the victory in the strike struggle,encouraged the striking workers to persevere in the struggle and strive for the final victory.In terms of its characteristics,its main reading targets were the vast number of workers,therefore the newspaper had an obvious popularization trend,and set entertainment,literature and art,the general public in one.Its language was concise and easy to understand,and the newspaper directly reflected the public opinion,which not only aroused the worker masses' emotional expression incisively and vividly to a great extent,but also enhanced the working-class recognition of the newspaper.In addition,the "Road for Workers" reports were highly targeted.The readership was dominated by the majority of workers participating in the Canton-Hong Kong strike.The publication also revolved around the Canton-Hong Kong strike.What was more valuable was reflected in the reporting of women's social groups,which not only reflected the sense of social identity and accomplishment of the majority of women to a certain extent,but also showed the improvement of women's social status.The "Road for Workers",as a revolutionary newspaper with the longest running and most influential period of the Great Revolution,played a positive role in awakening and raising the awareness of the working class,and further educating and guiding workers to participate in the strike movement correctly.At the same time,the "Road for Workers" newspaper continued to publicize the great unity of the working class,strengthened the union with the international proletariat,and strengthened the momentum of the workers' movement.It also helped workers to keep abreast of the struggle situation in a timely manner,and had an irreplaceable role in enhancing the determination and confidence of strikes.
