A Practice Report On Simulated Consecutive Interpretation Of The Story Of Chuaners Under The Guidance Of Skopos Theory

Food documentaries are an important way to carry forward Chinese culture,so the interpreting of food documentaries has a significant impact on cultural communication.Based on Skopos theory,this paper simulates Chinese-English consecutiveinterpreting with the first three episodes of The Story of Chuaner as source materials.The process of the simulation practice is introduced in detail,covering the whole process from the practice preparation to the analysis and summary after the practice.At the same time,case studies are made on the techniques of literal translation and annotation,free translation,amplification,and sentence recombination,respectively reflecting the three principles of purpose,coherence and loyalty.Mastering these four consecutive interpreting skills can help the audience better understand Chinese traditional culture and avoid ambiguity.In the process of interpreting practice,it is inevitable to encounter the situation of translating Chinese characteristic foods.Therefore,the practice of consecutive interpreting gourmet documentaries can not only provide references for translators' future translation work,but also be conducive to the spread of traditional Chinese culture.
