What's discourse study written by ShiXu has eight chapters and 142 pages with 132,000 characters, which was firstly published by Shanghai Foreign Language Education Press in 2017 and now it doesn't have English version. The content of this book is starting from the most basic, important and core concept, going through the key study tradition to the modern western ideological trend, then turning to the cultural critical innovative academic patterns and finally ending with the relevant teaching and practical resources. The text I choose is the Chapter two Main Tradition of the book what's discourse study from page 21 to page 41 with more than 10,000 characters. This chapter has twenty pages with twenty seven sections and every section will explain one linguistic concept, such as text linguistics and speech act theory. The source text is academic monograph whose main function is to transmit information, which belongs to informative text.According to the viewpoint of Peter Newmark,I would choose communicative translation as the major strategy and semantic translation as the minor strategy during the process of translation and the authenticity should be the priority. The focus of the communicative translation is the target language readers and I would try my best to reduce the barriers and difficulties of reading for the readers. The purpose of this translation is to make the foreign scholars have the chance to know the Chinese scholars' works and have more Chinese scholars' works spread to the outside world, meanwhile through the translation I can improve my translation level and develop the capacity to work with the team members, find the problems and summarize the experience.
