After more than thirty years of stoppage,Indonesia's Chinese language education has faced many difficulties even after the lifting of the ban.The lifting of the ban took place twenty years ago.At first,the ethnic Chinese' longing towards the Chinese culture kick-started the learning of the Chinese language in many regions in the country.The teaching of Chinese language can be seen everywhere.Other than Chinese subjects incorporated into formal schools and Chinese language majors established in universities,training institutions are the most developed in terms of broadness and numbers.They vary in size and teaching characteristics to accommodate different needs for students in different areas and cultural backgrounds.Compared to the Chinese Subject taught in formal schools,the result of Chinese language teaching in training institutions is more effective.However,not every one of these training institutions survived twenty years after the lifting of the ban,and not every one of them retained the same performance as years before.By researching a training institution with a considerable size and relatively good performance,examining its developmental process and the successful experience in its running,the author hopes to provide a reference for Indonesia's Chinese language education by pointing out problems that exist in the field and provide suggestions to solve those problems.The first chapter explains the cause,the contents and the purpose of this research;the second chapter provides an overview of Indonesia's Chinese language training institutions to give the readers a basic knowledge for the important contents of the research afterwards;the third chapter investigates the developmental process of Hong Hua Mandarin Course,chronologically analyzing its establishment,developmental process and the franchise period and summarizes its development pattern;the fourth chapter stresses upon the management method of the research subject,how the institute uses franchising to strengthen itself.Lastly,by understanding the overview of Indonesia's Chinese language training institutions,researching its success by analyzing its developmental process and management method,the author provides suggestions and developmental strategies to further improve its management method in the fifth chapter,in hopes of Hong Hua Mandarin Course' sustainable development,and become a better Chinese language training institution.The author hopes that this thesis can contribute to the cause of Chinese language education in Indonesia,bringing the cause into a more professional and powerful future.
