| The Sixth Zen Patriarch Huineng absorbed the Chinese native ideology and culture to reform Zen and created the South Zen with Lingnan characteristics in the process of dissemination of space,time and cultural dimensions of choice.The cultural characteristics and special geographical environment of seeking everything in Lingnan culture provide various favorable conditions for the formation and dissemination of Zen culture in Lingnan,which is also crucial for the prosperity of Zen.Huineng,born in Lingnan,was influenced by Lingnan culture and Buddhist culture,making it conducive to the absorption and compatibility of Zen culture and the creation of Southern Zen with distinct characteristics.After absorbing the Diamond Sutra and Nirvana Sutra,Huineng of the Six Patriarchs gradually matured in the process from the concealment of Lingnan to the transmission of Buddhism in temples.He came to the theory of "the world is self-purification,all laws are self-nature" and helped to perfect the theoretical system of insight.The congenitality and inevitability of the formation of his thought deserve our further exploration.With the flourishing development of Southern Zen,the number of Zen temples and followers increased sharply.The process of spreading Huineng’s thought in space by different regions and objects extended its influence to the whole country.At the same time,it gained the admiration of the rulers and gradually replaced the official status of Northern Zen by Southern Zen and became the mainstream of Chinese Zen.The simplification of the principles and rules of practice of "no writing,insight into Buddha" and the innovation of traditional Buddhism have a profound impact on all aspects of local traditional folk life.Huineng’s thought has been widely disseminated while satisfying the spiritual needs of believers with faith as its carrier.Up to modern times,Huineng inherited the five branches of Buddhism from Xuyun monks and made great contributions to the spread of modern Zen culture.The cultural infiltration of Zen into Lingnan has been strengthened and spread to neighboring countries to expand its influence.The dissemination of Zen in Lingnan has achieved ideal dissemination effect.The practice of Zen dissemination is still continuing at present.The successful dissemination of Huineng’s Zen thought in China has an indispensable relationship with the correct choice of dissemination routes and modes.The ideological system and practice mode rooted in its own cultural characteristics make the scope of Huineng’s thought dissemination wider.The dissemination characteristics of Huineng’s thought determine the way of discussion and research direction adopted in this paper.The innovation and characteristics of this paper are to investigate the formation and dissemination characteristics of Huineng’s Zen Thought from three aspects: ideological dissemination and spatial culture,historical factors and cultural dimensions.From the perspective of communication,this paper combs the causes and course of the formation of Six-ancestor Zen Thought in Lingnan,combs the interaction between the path of transmission of Huineng Thought in the sense of time and space and the evolution of thought,explores the characteristics of Huineng Zen Thought in the path of transmission of Huineng Thought and the commonality between Lingnan Culture,analyses the ways of promoting Huineng Thought in different regions and objects,and sums up the formation of Huineng Thought.The dissemination effect of Huineng’s thought is elaborated from the folk beliefs at home and abroad,which provides a research approach from the perspective of communication science for the study of Huineng’s thought.It has practical significance for understanding and developing cultural communication. |
