Wei tianlin is an oil painting artist in the 20 th century in China.With the original intention of rejuvenating national culture,he studied in Japan to learn advanced western oil painting techniques and spent his whole life in the study and exploration of oil painting.With the profound cultural deposits accumulated in his childhood and his love for national art,wei tianlin formed his own unique painting language while learning western impressionist painting,and constantly tried to inject Chinese national elements and Oriental charm into the carrier of western oil painting.This paper firstly selects wei tianlin's life experience as the timeline to sort out and find out the internal and external factors influencing the formation of his national style in the formation and development of his painting style.Secondly,through the analysis of his different works in different periods,the characteristics of his painting language,such as material selection,composition,color and brushwork,are deeply explored,so as to analyze his practice for the exploration of the nationalization of oil painting.The study on the formation of wei tianlin's painting style will also inspire the continuous exploration and innovation in the integration of creation.
