| Among the stereotypes, gender stereotypes have the most profound influence on individuals. In reality,it is not difficult to see that many people will subconsciously judge a certain thing from the view of gender. This approach not only establishes the "code of conduct for gender",but also acquiesces to it by the society. At the same time, this kind of thinking of "judging things by gender" often leads to unfair public opinions, thus affecting people’s objective evaluation of events. For this kind of situation, the main reason lies in the gender stereotype formed by the behavior individuals in childhood. From the perspective of growth, the age of preschool children belongs to the period of enlightenment to accept social things, and it is also the key period to determine the development direction of gender roles. Therefore, indepth research on gender stereotypes of preschool children is of great significance to promote the healthy development of preschool children’s gender roles. For this purpose,on the basis of a full literature review of previous studies on the gender stereotyping, this paper makes a thorough analysis of the existing problems in the field of research and puts forward the issues to be investigated. In this paper,111 preschool children in 3 grades(small class, middle class and large class)of 3kindergartens in Fuyang city,Anhui province were selected as experimental objects, and then the knowledge of gender stereotypes of preschool children was investigated by means of experiment and interview. The results show that the content and degree of gender stereotypes are different for children of different ages.In the case of children aged 3 years old(small class),due to their limited cognitive level, they could not summarize the differences between men and women. At the age of four, children in the middle class were able to tell the difference between men and women. However, this statement shows obvious gender stereotypes. In the experiment, children of this age showed shorter response time and higher accuracy to images conforming to gender stereotypes,as well as obvious gender stereotypes. The gender stereotypes of children in the 5 year old group(large class)have begun to dissolve.Their descriptions of male and female differences have been somewhat dialectical, and theirresponse time and accuracy to various images(conforming and non-conforming to stereotypes)are not significantly different. This shows that children of this age can overcome the influence of gender stereotypes to some extent and make more accurate and comprehensive judgments. It is of great significance to analyze the problems existing in gender stereotyping of preschool children based on experiments and literature materials and to study how to promote the healthy development of preschool children’s gender roles so as to further study gender stereotyping of preschool children and promote the healthy development of gender stereotyping of preschool children. |
