With the deepening of curriculum reform,cooperative learning has become one of the important teaching methods in elementary education in China.This new form of teaching helps to cultivate students' sense and ability of cooperation.However,most of the classes in China are large,so it is of great significance to organize students to carry out cooperative learning effectively in the case of large classes.This paper sums up the problems of English cooperative learning in large-scale primary classes,that is,the unreasonable division of labor and the unreasonable grouping of cooperative learning groups;the uneven cooperation awareness and participation of cooperative learning group members;the arbitrary allocation of classroom time in cooperative learning;and the not-obvious effect of teachers in cooperative learning.To solve these problems and test the effectiveness of cooperative learning approach in large-scale English classes,the author designed an experiment with a set of cooperative activities and conducted it through the heterogeneous grouping,assigning roles and setting the group norms,establishing evaluation criteria and observing and analyzing students,performance.After a semester of experiment,the experimental class scores have been significantly improved,and students' abilities in various aspects have been developed to varying degrees.
