The representative photography collection,Tunpu Impressions, systematically introduces Tunpu Culture. It consists of the origin of Tunpu Culture,Tunpu people's life and habits,Tunpu festivals, the development of Tunpu areas and other aspects of Tunpu Culture. The four chapters of the book: Geopolitical Tunpu(military outpost),Tunpu Folk Customs,Tunpu Impressions,Tunpu Secret Lives, are the source text. The translation of the book will narrow the gap of communication between Chinese and western countries, spread over this unique culture to the outside world and help English readers to appreciate the regional Tunpu Culture. In recent years, schema theory has been applied in various fields to guide translation, providing a new perspective for translation studies.Translation is an interlingual activity and discourse conversion, conveying the information expressed by the source language to the target language. It involves two processes of understanding and expressing. The combination of translation and schema theory includes two aspects, that is,decoding the schema of the source language and encoding the schema of the target language, which includes three parts: lingual schema translation, contextual schema translation and cultural schema translation. From this perspective, translation can be thought as schematic translation in this translation report. This report takes the translation practice of Tunpu Impressions as an example, discussing the content and process of the schematic translation and concluding the decoding and encoding role of schema theory in the translation of culture-loaded words. From another point of view, this combination not only gives the guidance for the translation of the culture-loaded words, but also broadens the research field of schema theory.
