Joseph Mallord William Turner was one of the most famous landscape painters in England in the first half of the 19th century. As a member of the Royal Academy of fine arts, his later works completely abandoned the classical style of British academy and turned to a poetic and sublime romantic style.Exploring the poetry and loftiness of Turner's late paintings is the content of this paper. This paper analyzes the influence of Turner's poems on his paintings from the perspective of literature, summarizes the sublime feeling of his late paintings from the perspective of aesthetics, and compares his works with those of the romantic painters of the same period, and concludes how Turner grasped the poetic and sublime characteristics of his paintings.
