| In our traditional culture,"restraint" and "humility" are regarded as good qualities, but today society encourages self-confidence,courage and self-expression.There is growing evidence that children’s withdrawal behavior, such as shyness and playing alone, can have adverse consequences for children. Therefore, social withdrawal children are getting more and more attention, and emotional attention bias is the key.At present, there are few direct studies on the attention bias of social withdrawal children to negative and positive information. In this study, the attention bias of social withdrawal children to positive and negative emotional information was explored by using the experimental method and the classical the dot-probe task. This study consists of two parallel experiments, one is the study of social withdrawal children’s attention bias towards negative emotions and the other is the study of positive emotional attention bias.Experiments 1 and 2 were divided into two experiments a and b.The negative attention bias of social withdrawal children was studied from the emotional intensity(extreme emotion, general emotion)and time dimension(175ms,500ms,1000ms),respectively.The purpose was to investigate the relationship between emotional intensity and time course in the influencing factors of children’s attention bias.In experiment la,we used a mixed experimental design of 2(group:social withdrawal children, normal children)*2(negative emotional intensity:extreme,general)*2(consistency:consistent,inconsistent).We found that only social withdrawal children showed greater vigilance than normal children under extreme negative emotional intensity.Using emotional intensity and group as independent variables, and the difference of response time(RT)as dependent variable,two-factor mixed variance analysis showed that the attentional bias of withdrawal children to threats was significantly higher than that of control group. In experiment lb,2(group:social withdrawal children, normal children)*3(time:175ms,500ms,1000ms)*2(consistency:consistent,inconsistent)mixed experimental design. The results showed that social withdrawal children were most alert to threat information at 500ms,and social withdrawal children tended to avoid threat information at the early stage of attention. In the experiment 2a,a mixed design of 2(group:social withdrawal children, normal children)*2(positive emotional intensity:extreme emotions, general emotions)*2(consistency:consistency,inconsistency)was also used. The results showed that there was no obvious attention bias and avoidance in different intensity of emotional stimulation. But the interaction between emotional intensity and group is significant.Through simple effect analysis, the attentional bias of withdrawal children to positive information changes with the change of emotional intensity. The stronger the intensity, the more sensitive the withdrawal children are to positive information. In experiment 2b,2(consistency:consistency,inconsistency)*3(time:175ms,500ms,1000ms)*2(group:social withdrawal children, normal children)was used to design the experiment. The results showed that social withdrawal children’s attention bias to positive information was significantly alert to normal children at 175ms,and there was no significant difference between 500ms and 1000ms.In conclusion,in experiment 1,it was found that the attention bias of social withdrawal children to negative emotions was significantly greater than that of control children. This difference was evasive at 175ms,and most obvious at 500ms.In experiment 2,it was found that withdrawal children were sensitive to the change of positive emotions, and the stronger the intensity, the higher the alertness. When the time was 175ms,it was observed that withdrawal children were more alert to positive emotions than normal children in the control group. To some extent, this result verifies and supplements the previous conclusion that children with social withdrawal are alert to negative emotions, which indicates that children with social withdrawal are at risk of mental disorders and anxiety problems. At the same time,we find that social withdrawal children are sensitive to positive information in the early stage, which reminds us that if we respond more positively to social withdrawal children, then we can reduce the risk of later problems. |
