A Study On The Narrative Art Of Lin Lanxiang

Lin Lanxiang is an important novel about the world in the Ming and Qing Dynasties.It not only has rich ideological content and cultural connotation,but also has unique artistic personality,especially its narrative art,which has reached a high level of ancient novels.A thorough discussion of its narrative art is of great academic significance for comprehensively grasping the characteristics and evolution of human relationship fiction.Based on Chinese and Western narrative theories,this paper mainly explores the relatively weak narrative discourse,narrative time and narrative space in Lin Lanxiang.In the preface,the research status of Linlanxiang is reviewed,and the purpose,significance and research methods of this paper are expounded.The main body is divided into three chapters to analyze the narrative art of Lin Lanxiang.The first chapter mainly explores the uuique narrative discourse of Lin Lanxiang from the two aspects of narrator's discourse and character's discourse.The narrator's discourse in Lin Lanxiang is both elegant and vulgar,and has the characteristics of irony and metaphor.The personalized character's discourse reflects the authors superb artistic expression in the narrative process.The second chapter mainly discusses the narrative time and significance of Lin Lanxiang from two aspects:story time and narrative sequence.The narrative time span of Lin Lanxiang is "one hundred years",which reflects a strong sense of illusion and strengthens the aesthetic tension of the novel.Its narrative time sequence mainly shows the deformation of two kinds of time sequence,namely,back-narration and pre-narration.There are three modes of retrospective:supplement,inversion and synchronic juxtaposition.These two ways of dealing with time,to a certain extent,dispel the tedious daily family life expressed in the natural chronological sequence of the story.Chapter three analyses the narrative space and its function of Linlanxiang from two aspects of architectural space description and space narrative place.The courtyard and garden building space in Lin Lanxiang not only provides the necessary place for the characters' activities,but also plays an important narrative role in metaphorizing the characters' character and temperament,suggesting the complex relationship between the characters and revealing the connotation and theme of the novel.From the point of view of narrative art,Lin Lanxiang is a mature and successful work in the human relations novels of Ming and Qing Dynasties.
