As a great pianist,Beethoven was also one of the most famous composers in the period of German classicism(1786-1832).Throughout his life,he has created many excellent works covering almost all musical genres.In addition,he has never ceased his creation of sonata in all his life,which embodies his personal belief and style.Piano Sonata in E flat Major Op.31 No.3,the most mature one in his mid-term works,is full of vigor and vitality in every movement In this paper,the performance of kempf and Emil Gilels are selected.By comparing the representative performance versions of the two different schools,Beethoven's Piano Sonata in E-flat Major Op.31 No.3 is analyzed from the aspects of speed,intensity,and emotional deduction of music in order to study the characteristics of their respective performance,the subtle differences between masters'performances and the reasons for these differences.By doing this,we can be provided with reference materials for the performance style and theoretical research of Beethoven Piano Sonata,thus contributing to our performance.
