Feminist narratology, which emerged in the United States in the 1980s,has made great achievements in the field of American narratology research in the 1990s.Feminist narratology, the product of the ingenious combination of feminist literary criticism and structuralism narratology, fully complements its weaknesses with its cross-disciplinary compatibility characteristics. On the one hand,it effectively absorbs the standpoint and viewpoint of feminist literary criticism, and at the same time,it specially combines the methods and rules of classical narratology. On the other hand,it overcomes the defects of narratology in blindly advocating form and alienating text, and infuses new vitality into feminist literary criticism with scientific theoretical system of narratology. Therefore it weakens or even avoids the disadvantages of strong political complexion and excessive emphasis on subjectivity to a certain extent.Emerging from the 1980s,feminist narratology has developed on a large scale and has a wide influence in the course of more than 30 years' development in the West. Therefore, after the introduction of feminist narratology which is a prominent subject in western theories into China at the beginning of the 21st century, the analyses of the degree of acceptance in China, the state of its application, and the factors that promote or hinder it become the core questions that this paper wants to explore.Based on the above questions, this paper is divided into six parts:the introduction part mainly reviews the domestic research status of the reception history of western feminist narratology in China, which is the basis of the whole thesis;the first chapter introduces the historical origin, the theoretical sources, the development status and main theories of feminist narratology in the west;the second chapter reviews the introduction of feminist narratology into China as well as its development and acceptance in China;the third chapter tries to analyze the application and development of feminist narratology as an interpretation method in China and summarize the deficiencies;the fourth chapter analyzes the status quo of feminist narratology in China, then reflects on the causes, and thus draws some practical enlightenment for the development of feminist narratology in China;the conclusion part makes a further summary of the acceptance and development of feminist narratology in China and puts forward some new hopes and prospects for the future development of feminist narratology in China. This paper argues that the acceptance and application of feminist narratology in China is not ideal and its development is relatively slow, which is related to the dilemmas encountered by Chinese scholars in the theory and practical methods when using feminist narratology, and is also inseparable from the differences between Chinese and western gender narrative resources. In addition, while discussing the status quo of western feminist narratology in China,we should actively reflect on it,view its values and limitations with a dialectical perspective, strive to give full play to its explanatory value in domestic texts, and further seek improvement measures for the localized development of feminist narratology.
