Una Marson was an outstanding black woman writer, poet, playwright and social activist in British colony of Jamaica and made significant contributions to the advancement of black women's social status and the promotion of social and national cultural development in Jamaica. This thesis tries to analyze Una Marson's plays London Calling and Pocomania from the perspective of Black Feminism by combining with her special identity. The thesis is divided into three parts. It starts with the introduction about the background and significance of the thesis, literature review on Una Marson and her two plays, the perspective and basic structure of the thesis and its innovative insight. The next part is the main body which consists of four chapters.First of all,Marson's life experiences, the two plays and Black Feminism are introduced.Second, the thesis expounds the image of marginalized, silenced and being male-gazed black women under triple oppression of race, class and sender in London Calling and Pocomania. And then,it continues to analyze the black women's awakening female consciousness, including root-seeking consciousness,self-identification and spiritual independence. Finally,it explores realistic obstacles that black women would encounter on the road to black women's emancipation after their awakening such as the issue of the absent "mother",fragile "sisterhood" and economic dependence and its corresponding solutions. The conclusion summarizes Marson's advanced black feminist thoughts embodied in the two plays that black women's emancipation need rely on reconsidering their African imprint, building up the solid "sisterhood" and achieving economic independence. In view of such profound thoughts and her vivid creation of black females,Marson's works should be studied seriously. The limitations of the thesis are also pointed out finally.
