The Eolution Of Fan Li’s Image In Ancient Chinese Narratie Literature

Fanli has always been highly praised by ancient literaty,and his personal image has been constantly changing in literary works.He went from a doctor to a businessman and began to learn magic skills.At last,he became associated with Xishi,and finally retired to the five lakes together with Xishi.There is much to learn about Fanli,a figure who has never been seen in historical books,who has rich legendary experiences and whose stories have been widely spread,and who has become a cultural symbol of retirement after success.Based on this situation,this paper will start from the text analysis,classify the text types and take into account the time sequence,dig into the evolution process of the figure of Fanli,and analyze the deep reasons behind this evolution process.Although some scholars have studied Fanli’s figure in recent years,there discussions are mostly limited to the comparison between one work or two works,and there has never been a systematic sudy of the evolution of Fanli’s image,which makes the study of Fanli’s figure superficial rather than in-depth.This time,by collecting the existing literature about Fanli,we will explore the images of Fanli in different types of works.Through sorting out the different images of Fanli in the prose of pre-qin history,miscellaneous histories,novels of Ming and Qing dynasties and legendary works,the author systematically sorted out the changing process of Fanli’s image and the cultural significance of Fanli as a figure.
