As a cell of society, family members are maintained by blood relationship, marriage and interest relationship. The most core and special part of family relationship is the relationship between parents and children. In the late middle ages,England experienced famine, pestilence and war successively.Economic manor economic disintegration, serfdom gradually decline;Culturally, the national language is independent, and people pursue a free and equal life.Social development affects the change of family relationship, and the change of family relationship also reflects the development of society. The two are closely related,so it is of great significance to discuss the parent-child relationship. This paper mainly introduces the changes of the emotional relationship between parents and children in the British family from the height of the middle ages to the late middle ages,as well as the influence of the changes of the internal environment of the family and the external environment of the society on the parent-child relationship. In the heyday of the middle ages, due to the high death rate of children and the religious original sin theory, parents were often harsh and indifferent to their children. In addition,in order to safeguard the interests of the feudal family, parents had an absolute say in the choice of children’s marriage and inheritance of family property. The relationship between parents and children is mutually influenced. It is precisely because of parents’ attitudes, together with the unfair treatment of children in the growth process, that children’s attitude towards parents is alienated. In the late middle ages, the parent-child relationship has changed,on the one hand, performance for parental "goodness" of children, parents raise young children,in the juvenile period, will they sent to schools, churches or choose an apprentice servant, and through the family letters and master and apprentice apprentice during parents have signed the contract, you can see that the parents of children carefully arranged. In terms of children’s marriage choice and family property inheritance, parents’ authority is relatively weakened, and children have more choices and right of speech. On the other hand,it is manifested in the filial piety of the children to their parents. The rights and obligations between parents and children should be reciprocal and reciprocal.Children are obliged to support their parents. On the one hand, the change of parent-child relationship is due to the influence of marriage, inheritance and individualism. On the other hand,it is due to the external social war,the occurrence of natural disasters and the improvement of material conditions. It can be seen that with the changes in politics, economy and culture in the society, the parent-child relationship has gradually developed from estrangement and indifference to reciprocal care.As the continuation of their parents’ blood and the crystallization of their emotions, children’s intimate relationship with each other is conducive to maintaining the harmony and stability of the family. To a certain extent, the stability of the family also promotes the development of the society.
