| On September 26th,2018,the China-ASEAN Young Entrepreneurs"B&R" Economic and Trade Cooperation Activities opened in Fangchenggang city.Nearly 200 young entrepreneurs from China and ASEAN countries were invited.This event aimed at building a platform for all young entrepreneurs to conduct communications,share values and achieve win-win results,so as to facilitate the Belt and Road construction.The author had the privilege to shoulder part of the Chinese-English simultaneous interpreting task for the opening ceremony.This experience provides her with sufficient corpus.This report includes five parts,namely task description,pre-interpreting preparation,case study&coping strategies,reflection and feedback and conclusion.The focus will be placed on pre-interpreting preparation for and case study of this simultaneous interpreting task.Pre-interpreting preparation covers long-term preparation and short-term preparation,discussing the necessity of language proficiency and stress tolerance,and the importance of the preparation of background knowledge,documents and terms and the on-site preparation.In the case study,some typical cases are analyzed from the perspectives of "syntactic linearity","addition" and "omission",combined with the features of simultaneous interpreting with texts.Through the analysis of this interpretation task,the author holds that:Firstly,adequate pre-interpreting preparation is conducive to the success of a simultaneous interpreting task.Secondly,syntactic linearity is the main approach in simultaneous interpreting while effective segmentation and connection can help realize syntactic linearity which may save energies for interpreters and help the audience receive message more effectively.Thirdly,appropriate addition can highlight the logic,removing the comprehension obstacles caused by the different language form of Chinese and English.Last but not least,intentional omission can save energies for interpreters as an effective interpreting skill.Unintentional omission will cause information loss,if it is inevitable due to intensive information or other reason,tactics like summarization could be taken to reduce the information loss. |
