Research On The Periodization Of Internet Terms In The Past Twenty Years

In 1986,China’s first e-mail was sent from Beijing,and the Chinese Internet was officially born.After entering the 21 st century,the Internet has become popular.In order to improve the efficiency of online chat or to pursue the effect of humorous and concise expression,netizens have adopted new forms of language expression.Over time,a specific form of language has been formed.This kind of language expression forms spread and developed rapidly through the Internet platform,and even began to enter people’s daily language life.Network language is not only a tool of network communication,but also a carrier of network culture.It reflects the outlook on life and values of the network era.Therefore,combing the overall context of the generation and development of network language is of great significance not only to the study of Chinese,but also to the development and inheritance of culture.In order to have an overall understanding of the development process of network language,the author collected the network language corpus from 1996 to 2018.Through the study of the collected network language corpus,the author found that the development trend of network language is basically consistent with the overall development trend of the Internet.Based on the development context of the Internet,the development history of network language is roughly divided into three parts.There are four stages: the embryonic stage(1996-2001);the development stage(2002-2007);the upsurge stage(2008-2018).The paper also explores the contents,forms and attitudes of network terms in each stage.In these three stages of development,some network terms are just a flash in the pan,fail to withstand the test of time,after a period of time,they disappear into the long river of history,such as "E-mail","rice chaff","kindness"(no good weather),"cookies"(love and cheap women’s jokes).With the passage of time,they have faded away,and a few of them are in the long river of history.Modern Chinese solidifies,such as "kill","give power","positive energy" and so on.This is not only the function of Chinese self-regulation,but also the result of the interaction of social,cultural,political and other conditions.This paper has searched and screened the network words collected in Modern Chinese Dictionary(7th edition).410 network words have been obtained,and the characteristics of these words have been analyzed,so as to explore the growth and decline of network words.This paper combs the development of network language and explores its vitality,analyses its value and existing problems,and makes bold speculation and conjecture on the future development trend of network language.
