At the present time Sino-Mongolian economic relations are known as prosperous and mutually beneficial.For the past few years,cooperation of these two countries is continuously developing,-this fact became the main motivation for Mongolian students to study Chinese language.Therefore,the number of Mongolian students who are learning Chinese language is constantly increasing,students are showing their active and optimistic attitude towards Chinese language and,moreover,they have a great interest to Chinese culture and China itself.But those who were studying Chinese for some period have realized that later they are facing the problem of demotivation at learning language.This study is based on Dornyei's three-positioned design model for learning foreign language which is also taken as theoretical foundation of this work.We have taken as respondents the students of Mongolian State University of Science and Technology;we have made analysis through questionnaire method to find out the reasons of initial motivation to study Chinese language and decrease of this motivation alongside with influence factors.The study has shown that the most of the students:"Would like to go and study in China","Chinese language is one of the most foreign languages in Mongolia","Chinese language gives a lot of opportunities to find a job and really perspective for the future"-that are the initial reasons that motivated to study Chinese language.Motivation to study and its decrease are not coming from the student himself,but family factors,teaching methods and also content of courses,extracurricular and class activities along with education environment-all of them can influence on student's motivation.According to analysis,students who are being in a process of learning Chinese language without possibility to speak in Chinese every day,having difficult course content and exams,starting to feel complexity of Chinese language itself which can eventually lead them to decrease of motivation(or demotivation)to study Chinese.Thus,it shows that students who are learning Chinese at the very end could have quite weak intrinsic motivation.At last,we have focused on the situation of students of Mongolian State University of Science and Technology and their demotivation at learning Chinese,we have put out some recommendations for schools and teachers,and we hope that with the help of this research the students will get an inspiration at studying and will increase their level of Chinese language.
