Matthew Parker was the first archbishop of Canterbury during Elizabeth I.He experienced not only the immature protestant reforms of Henry VIII and Edward VI,but also the radical and brutal restoration of Catholicism under Mary I.These experiences prompted parker to adopt a moderate approach to reform the church of England after becoming archbishop.In this paper,Matthew parker became the archbishop of Canterbury in the period of Elizabeth I,and carried out a comprehensive reform of the church of England to discuss.Firstly,the complex and changeable religious situation of England is introduced as the background of the Times:the main time period includes the period of Mary I to the early Elizabeth I.During this period,the religious situation in the country was worrying.Not only catholics and protestants were in constant conflict,but puritans who demanded further reform also joined in the religious struggle.In terms of politics and diplomacy,England is facing coercion from the power of the holy see and other Catholic countries that respect the holy see.Mr.Parker is a man who has grown up in these worrying times.He turned out to be a student of literature and art,and then gradually transformed into a knowledgeable and rational theologian.So he was chosen by queen Elizabeth to be the archbishop of Canterbury,to reform the church of England.Secondly,it discusses the main contents of parker's reform of state education.He reformed the church of England in three ways.It includes liturgy,church doctrine,and church administration.The reformed Anglican church took on a new look,which not only neutralized the conflicts among the three sects,but also contributed to the peaceful religious environment in the early period of Elizabeth I.Finally,it discusses the influence of parker's reformation on the course of English history.Parker's reform of the church of England not only provided more communicators for the development of the church of England,but also stabilized the domestic political and religious order.Most importantly,it strengthened the authority of the queen,which laid the political and religious foundation for England to be empire.
