Writing is a very important part among the English basic skills and writing ability reflects the students' comprehensive language ability and level.However,the current English writing teaching in the school where the writer teaches presents a situation that is not optimistic.According to the English examination of New Curriculum Standards,Volumn ?,English writing is divided into two parts,namely,essay correction and writing expression.A survey into the college entrance examinations in recent years shows that students' scores in these two parts are low.In addition,most students have little interest in and no scientific methods in writing.The reason is that the teachers still adopt the traditional method of summative assessment.In this way,students can neither fully participate in the writing process nor fully experience the positive emotion and accomplishment in the course of writing.Finally,students will lose their passion and interest in writing.English Curriculum Standards in senior high school suggests combining formative assessment with summative assessment with the forner as the main task.The formative evaluation emphasizes the diversification and plays a great role in teaching.Therefore,establishing scientific and effective evaluation has an important influence on English writing.At present,writing in the English college entrance examination is divided into two parts.Since both parts focus on the students' writing habits and abilities,the author proposes to combine these two parts in writing training.Therefore,a scheme in which formative evaluation is used in the interactive teaching of essay correction and writing expression is designed..The author analyzes the current condition of teaching evaluation in the school,combining domestie and foreign researching results and some teaching theories as a guide.Using two elasses in Moutai High School as an example,the teaching experiments are conducted to test the teaching practice and effect of formative assessment on the interactive learning of both essay correction and writing expression.In the experimental class,formative assessment was applied to each process of writing teaching.The students were guided to use evaluation scale and are instructed to design a piece of essay correction.In this way,the students5 writing was evaluated from various perspectives.While traditional evaluation method was applied in the control class.Using the test can draw the scores of pre-test and post-test Using the questionnaire can draw students' writing condition,and finally obtain statistical analysis.The statistical survey shows that post-test scores in the experimental class have improved Morever,the students' writing interest,attitude as well as writing habits and strategies have improved as well.These changes tell that in learning and teaching together in essay correction and writing expression is feasible and effective;the formative evaluation can improve students' learning status including the total scores and writing interest,attitude as well as habits and strategies.
