In the romantic period,the German composer Mendelsohn created a large piano solo work "Variations Serieuses" op.54 in 1841,this piano work plays a pivotal role in Mendelssohn's many works.From the music we can see some new production elements of Mendelssohn:"Song without Words" is limpid and unaffected,lighthearted,"Variations Serieuses" is solemn grief,Serious prudence;Mendelssohn applied the musical production techniques he had learned from Beethoven and Bach to this work,at the same time he combined classicism with romanticism.From this variations,we can see Mendelssohn 's understanding of the music texture,music structure and music style of the variations genre.The author selects four audio recordings of "Variations Serieuses" palyed by Brendel,Horowitz,Perahia,Richter respectively,and under the object of investigation and the characteristics of the article,the investigation method,the quantitative research method,the literature analysis method,the descriptive research method and the comparative research method are adopted.Through Vmus website and Adobe Audition software,the author make a theoretical date measurement of speed and dynamics in music,then prensent these date through graphs,and make a theoretical analysis of the comparison results.In addition to speed and dynamics factors,the author summarize other details such as timbre,pedal,playing skills etc.in different audio recordings,finally,make a brief summarize for the performance style and characteristics of versions from the four performers.
