The Creation Theory Of Liu Xinglong's Prose

Liu Xinglong is famous for his novels,but he has also set foot on prose writing.The time when he began writing prose was later than that of novel writing.Since the 1990s,he has published about 170 prose.The content of his prose vary greatly,concerning family,homeland,traveling,history and so on.They indicate his affection for daily lives,his closeness with nature,his exploration of history and his criticism of conflicts between city and countryside.This essay systematically analyze and summarize Liu Xinglong's aesthetic style and his spirits,hoping to present a richer artistic world of him as a novelist.This essay consists of three chapters,which discuss the feature of Liu's prose in three respective aspects:writing ideas and genre,seeking and building of spirits,western thinking and cultural orientation.The first chapter focuses on his writing idea and genre.This chapter first starts with his usually writing pattern--"blood,flesh and soul" as the clue,defining "blood,flesh and soul".analyzing his philosophy in it,which means writers have to use the simplest words to convey the deepest emotions.Second,this chapter captures the four frequent theme"family","homeland","history",and "travel".In the environment where they entwine,it categorizes the prose types.The second chapter discusses the seeking and building of spiritual homeland in Liu's prose.It starts from the writer's spiritual world,analyzing its spiritual connotation from three aspects.Firstly,analyze his drifting life experiences,and seek the origin and structure of his lonely conscience.Secondly,illustrate his complicated eco-conscience and cultural connotation according to the unique writing in the prose.Thirdly,illustrate its "seek-root" thinking in the folk customs.The third chapter mainly discusses the intervention of western culture and the change of Chinese traditional culture.It starts with "discussion of humanity spirits",exploring his stance when faced with loss of humanity.Secondly,by analyzing his ambivalence about urbanization,it presents his modern reflection and cultural resistance.Finally,from traveling,history and emotional tradition,it explores the continuance and transformation of ancient prose tradition.
