With the rapid development of the Internet,social media platforms have become a very important way people socialize.They not only affect the lives of adults,but also produce the influences on the teenagers.Social media platforms have revolutionized the way adolescents socialize,gain information,and have engendered a new set of issues about their identity development.In the western countries,the researchers have achieved a great success in the psychology,which is what we should learn from them.Therefore,E-C translation of identity development in adolescence in this translation practice is of great significance in China.The translation report is based on an excerpt of The Impact of Social Media Platforms on Identity Development in Adolescence,a dissertation written by Nicole Mirkin.The author selects chapter the first two as the source text.This report includes four main parts.Chapter One is the description of the translation task,including background information,text features and purposes of translation and its significance.Chapter Two presents the translation process,introducing the preparation before translation,translation process and quality control.Chapter Three is case analysis,with the guidance of Skopos Theory,discussing the translation skills,such as addition,omission and conversion.Chapter Four summarizes the translation practice,including translation reflections and the problems to be solved.Through this translation practice and writing of the report,the author has improved the translation competence.At the same time,the translation text helps educators and mental health professionals deeply understand the identity development in adolescence.Thus they can apply advanced methods into educational practice.
