Research On The Commonness Of Oscar-winning Animation Short Films Based On Data Visualization

With the increasing influence of the Oscar Award for Best Animation Short Film,the animation short film that has won this honor every year has become a classic in the history of human cinema which has extremely high value of research.For Chinese short film creators,the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film is difficult to obtain under the umbrella of major animation companies such as Disney and Pixar.Looking at the development history of Chinese animation short films,there have been many excellent animations,but the present situation is not satisfactory.In the pursuit of making better works to win the Oscar for best animation short film,researchers in every animation field in China are working hard.However,the current research on the best animated short films of the Oscar mainly focuses on the factual exposition and film review interpretation of the Oscar-winning animated short films,and there is no vertical summary and comparative analysis of previous Oscar-winning animated short films.This paper focuses on the comparison of 18 Oscar-winning animation short films from2000 to 2017.Although it didn't analyzed them one by one,the origin,story theme and technical expression of the short films were graphically sorted out,and the data on plot point setting and narrative rhythm,lens movement and scene processing,color combination and color value collocation of hue were longitudinally compared,and the common and differences existed were visually presented in the form of composite images such as graphs and maps.This paper summarizes the potential creation rules of all previous Oscar-winning animated short films by means of data visualization and visual information seeking,and sums up a creation mode of Oscar-winning animated short films,aims to find out a way for many aspiring animated short film creators to learn from and increase the chances of winning Chinese animated short films.
