The 16th-17th century is an important period for military development in Western Europe.In the military field,many major changes have taken place in Western Europe.The most important change is that the level of military equipment has made a qualitative leap.The advancement of firearms technology is the most significant military achievement of this period.It is a military technology since the 15th century.Development and extension.In the 200 years of the 16th and 17th centuries,Western Europe not only showed mature casting artillery,but also the technology of casting guns,and promoted the popularization and development of hand-held firearms,making Western Europe absolutely comparable to other countries in the world at that time.The military superiority has laid the basic form of basic equipment and operations of Western European weapons for nearly two hundred years.This article is divided into four parts.The introduction part mainly deals with the subject of this paper,namely the research on firearms reform in Western Europe in the 16th and 17th centuries,the significance of the research questions and the basis of the topic selection.In addition,the relevant literature and materials,the paper first combed both domestic and foreign,and then summarized the original literature on military equipment and training.Finally,this article explains the terms of some vocabulary related to military changeIn the first chapter,the main aspects of the war from the late Middle Ages to the early modern times were introduced,and the forms of war in Europe before the military revolution in the 16th and 17th centuries were introduced.The first part mainly introduces the infantry revolution in the late Middle Ages.Through the infantry revolution,the infantry began to surpass the position of the heavy armor in the war.The second part introduces the rise of the mercenary system that was very popular in the late Middle Ages to modern times.The last part introduces the introduction and development of gunpowder,focusing on the process of European manufacturing and purification of gunpowder and related processes.This is also the technical root of the development of modern firearms.The second chapter mainly introduces the evolution of artillery in the early modern period,and introduces in detail the process from the appearance of the artillery to perfection.In the first part of this chapter,we briefly introduce the origin of artillery in Western Europe,and in the second part introduce the preliminary application of artillery in the 15th century.This chapter focuses on the improvement and development of modern artillery.It focuses on the 16-17th century research on artillery casting technology,artillery type,power range,related tools,and actual equipment in various countries.In this way,the development process of modern artillery can be introduced as comprehensively as possible.The third chapter is mainly about the introduction of hand-held firearms and new bayonet.With the advancement of artillery technology,small firearms have also developed the technical basis for their application.This chapter begins with a brief introduction to the origins of hand-held weapons.The article focuses on the study of colset guns,rim guns and flintlocks in modern Western Europe.Afterwards,through a series of data,the power of modern European firearms was explored and discussed.Finally,the development of the bayonet and its significance are highlighted.The fourth chapter discusses the impact of the advancement of firearms manufacturing technology in modem Western Europe.It is pointed out that under the influence of military technological progress,the size of the military form of the Western European army has also changed.Moreover,this change has not only occurred in the military,but also has a profound impact on the society of Western Europe.
