A Study On The Linking Function And Lexicalization Of Time Adverbs In Modern Chinese

This paper takes the time adverbs with the function of textual connection in modern Chinese as the research object.It mainly discusses the following problems:first,it points out the identification standard and scope of time adverbs with connection function,and classifies them;The second is to analyze the main sources of time adverbs and the general process of lexicalization evolution.Third,explain the motivation and mechanism of lexicalization of time adverbs.The first chapter is the introduction.Firstly,the research object of this paper is explained,the previous research results on time adverbs are summarized,and the existing problems are pointed out.Finally,the source of corpus,the theories and methods adopted in this paper are explained.The second chapter firstly defines the time adverbs with the function of linking,and then defines the scope of textual time adverbs and reclassifies them.We believe that time adverbs are reflected in the surface structure of a text,which links sentences into a coherent text according to the sequence of actions or events on the timeline.In accordance with the relative position of actions and events in time series,this paper divides the time adverbs with linking functions into three categories:first tense,second tense and termination,and finally explains the judgment criteria for lexicalization of time adverbs,which mainly include three aspects:phonetic,syntactic position and semantic change.The third chapter is the historical origin and lexicalization of time adverbs.In our opinion,there are three main sources of time adverbs:one is the formation of syntactic synonym reuse,the other is the derivation of syntactic structure,and the third is the agglutination of non-syntactic structures that are not at the same syntactic level.The time and process of the evolution of time adverbs are analyzed.The fourth chapter is the motivation and mechanism of the evolution of time adverbs.This paper holds that the formation and evolution of evoked temporal adverbs are the result of the combined action of internal and external factors.The motivation of the evolution of time adverbs mainly includes syntactic condition,semantic basis,high-frequency use and prosodic motivation.Its evolution mechanism is mainly metaphor and metonymy,reasoning and reanalysis.Chapter five is the conclusion.It summarizes the whole paper and points out the deficiency of this paper.
