The Effect Of Job Satisfaction On Retirement Anxiety

Retirement is an important transition that most people will experience later in their working life.It means the restructuring of life style and the absence of work roles.If individuals experience retirement anxiety and are unable to adapt to this major shift,they are very possible not to adapt to the situation.However,at present,the research on the retirement anxiety of pre-retirement employees at home and abroad is still in the preliminary stage,and there are still many problems to be explored.Pre-retirement employees still need to be in the work scene.The psychological state generated after the perception of all aspects of work--job satisfaction has an important impact on the individual’s feelings when facing retirement.In addition,the emotional state of employees themselves,especially the job-induced job burnout,is also the entry point to study retirement anxiety.Therefore,this paper aims to understand the current situation and characteristics of retirement anxiety of China’s pre-retirement employees,study the influence of job satisfaction and job burnout on retirement anxiety,and further explore the mediating role of job burnout between job satisfaction and retirement anxiety in order to understand the current situation of retirement anxiety of China’s pre-retirement employees,at the same time,enrich the relevant empirical research,to provide a theoretical basis and empirical research for enterprises and individuals to reduce retirement anxiety.In this study,the Chinese version of MBI-GS edited by Li Chaopining and Shi Kan,the short-form scale of Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire(MSQ)compiled by Weiss et al..and the RAS compiled by Hayslip et al.,were used to conduct a questionnaire survey on employees who gonna be retired within 10 years.A total of 360 questionnaires were issued,360 were recovered and 301 were valid.The main results are as follows:(1)There is a significant positive correlation between the emotional exhaustion,cynicism and diminished personal accomplishment of job burnout and retirement anxiety.There was a significant negative correlation between job satisfaction and retirement anxiety.There is a significant negative correlation between job satisfaction and job burnout.(2)Internal job satisfaction can predict the retirement anxiety of pre-retirement employees.(3)The cynicism dimension of job burnout plays a completely mediating role between internal job satisfaction,external job satisfaction and retirement anxiety.
