The Translation Practice Report Of Feminist Stylistics (Chapter One And Chapter Two)

This translation practice report,guided by Skopos theory proposed by Hans Vermeer,selects feminist stylistics(chapter 1 and chapter 2)by Sarah mills,a famous British writer,as the material for translation practice,and discusses the problems and corresponding solutions in the process of translation.Feminist stylistics is an academic monograph by Sara Mills.She applied the theory of feminism to the study of stylistics,which expanded the field of stylistics and laid the foundation for the study of feminist stylistics.As it is an academic work,it is quite different from the ordinary text in language.In the process of translation,the translator should not only faithfully and accurately convey the meaning of the source text,but also reproduce the language style of the source text as much as possible.Therefore,the author chooses Skopos theory of Hans Vermeer as the theoretical guide to explore the translation strategies of academic texts from the aspects of vocabulary,syntax and writing style.According to Skopos theory,translation is a purposeful act based on the original text and must follow a series of rules.Vermeer put forward three principles of Skopos:the principle of purpose,the principle of coherence and the principle of fidelity.The principle of purpose takes the lead.Therefore,the author gives priority to the principle of purpose,supplemented by the principle of coherence and fidelity.The author flexibly applies literal translation,free translation and partial translation and other translation techniques to the specific translation problems,so as to be as close to the source text as possible.The translation practice report is divided into five chapters.The first chapter briefly introduces the translation practice tasks,analyzes the characteristics of translation practice materials and translation difficulties,and makes clear the purpose of the translation practice.Chapter two is the design and planning of translation practice.It includes pre-translation preparation,post-translation proofreading and selection of parallel texts.Chapter three introduces the Skopos theory of Hans Vermeer and its applicability in translation practice.The fourth part is a case study,introducing the translation strategies adopted by the author in lexical,syntactic and writing styles.Chapter five is the conclusion,which reviews and analyzes the problems the author encountered in the process of translation practice,and summarizes the experience and lessons.What’s more important is that through this translation practice,the author realizes his own shortcomings and knows what efforts should be made to become a better translator.
